Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Provided by Greater Milwaukee CVB SPRING/SUMMER 2008
With everything from ethnic festivals and outdoor concerts to sporting events and one-of-a-kind attractions, Milwaukee is a summer getaway hot spot. You’ll find plenty of cool events to keep you entertained and even more warm hospitality to make you feel right at home.
No passport is required to travel around the globe at the Henry W. Maier Festival Park. From the end of May until the middle of September, Milwaukee pays tribute to its heritage in festival form with colorful summertime ethnic fests that bring the world to the shores of Lake Michigan. Explore the art, history, recreation, cuisine, music and genealogy of a new culture nearly every weekend.
Tap into the world’s largest music festival, Summerfest. This 11-day extravaganza fills 10 stages and its lakefront amphitheater with an incredible, non-stop mix of national headliners, straight-from-Billboard chart toppers to a steady dose of music legends.
Start your engines with a visit to the Harley-Davidson Museum, opening this summer. Located on a 20-acre parcel of land near downtown Milwaukee, the 130,000-square-foot Museum will bring Harley-Davidson passion alive through stories of the extraordinary people, culture and history of Harley-Davidson.
Visit the boys of summer at Miller Park, home to the Milwaukee Brewers and the nation’s only stadium with a fan-shaped convertible roof and natural grass playing field. Watch the ever-popular sausage race and take part in one of our most treasured baseball traditions, tailgating.
Soak up some rays at any one of the city’s five swimming beaches. Spend some time in any of our nearly 15,000 acres of parkland, much of which is situated along the lakefront. Miles of nature trails and paths for biking, rollerblading, jogging and walking provide the perfect escape in the heart of the city. And, with nearly 100 species of fish swimming around in Lake Michigan, we’re an angler’s paradise.
