Known as the Buckeye State, Ohio beautifully reflects diversity in nearly every inch of the state. From the people to the landscape, Ohio has something for everyone.

The state’s three major cities, Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati, bring skyscrapers and a thriving city life to the visitors who walk the streets in their own self-guided adventures. Ohio’s next tier of cities, including Dayton, Toledo, Akron/Canton and Youngstown, hold the perfect balance of welcoming suburban sidewalks in a big-city atmosphere. The charming and picturesque communities like historic Marietta and Chillicothe emanate small-town charisma and are home to residents who are enthusiastic to tell you about what their communities have to offer visitors.

The many faces of Ohio’s residents showcase a melting pot of cultures and backgrounds. For example, the Underground Railroad had dozens of stops throughout Ohio that provided a route to freedom for escaped slaves in the 1800s. Today, visitors to the state can see the hardships African American slaves faced as they walk in their footsteps while visiting various kiosks placed at Underground Railroad sites in Ohio. And many areas throughout the state provide cultural neighborhoods ripe with delicious foods and authentic art: From Little Italy in Cleveland to German Village in Columbus, Ohio is a hotspot for an array of cultures and identities.

Finally, Ohio offers a diverse landscape that provides the perfect palette for touring visitors of the state. The shores of Lake Erie are the ideal destination to soak up the sun’s rays after a dip in the lake during the summer. The Hocking Hills region, nestled on the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, is the perfect getaway for nature enthusiasts looking for their next big hike among the region’s waterfalls. And the vast plains of The Wilds – Ohio’s own live animal and nature conservatory – attract visitors from around the world as they observe the miles-long landscape.
