SPRING/SUMMER 2008

Check out the boys of summer at a Cardinals’ baseball game in St. Louis, or visit one of the many free attractions found in Forest Park, site of the 1904 World’s Fair. Within this urban oasis you’ll find the world-famous St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum and the St. Louis Science Center. Other great family attractions include the City Museum, the Magic House and Six Flags and its water park, Hurricane Harbor.

Across the state, Kansas City offers just as many options. Known for its barbecue and jazz, Kansas City plays host to its own baseball team, the Royals, while it pays homage to the past with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, found in the historic 18th and Vine neighborhood. Spend the day at Worlds of Fun theme park or the accompanying water park, Oceans of Fun. Don’t miss Science City at Union Station, a renovated train station.

Missouri’s rich African American history continues to teach how others lived. A replica of a slave ship recreates the horrors of the Middle Passage at the Black World History Museum in St. Louis. The American Jazz Museum honors the musicians who helped create the Kansas City jazz sound.

At the George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond, visit the birthplace and boyhood home of one of America’s most brilliant scientists.

Get active with a visit to the Lake of the Ozarks, Central Missouri’s popular resort area. Catch some fish, water ski, Jet Ski or man a sailboat. There’s even parasailing for the super adventurous. Visitors will also find plenty of golfing, shopping and spas in the area.

Finally, head down to Branson, where you’ll find world-class entertainment for the whole family in the natural Ozark Mountains. Branson has 52 magnificent live performance theaters, three pristine lakes, 12 championship golf courses and an international award-winning theme park.

These suggestions barely scratch the surface for all the ways you can enjoy your next visit to Missouri, so start planning now. Visit www.VisitMO.com or call 800-519-4800 for a free 2008 Official Missouri Vacation Planner.
