SPRING/SUMMER 2008

Indianapolis, so easy to do so much! Indianapolis, just a day’s drive from more than half the nation’s population, features world-class attractions and museums, shopping, dining, sporting events and eclectic cultural districts, all in a convenient downtown package and delivered with Indy’s unique brand of hospitality.

Indy’s central location makes it an easy and affordable destination for a getaway and downtown was designed with the visitor in mind – more than 200 restaurants, 50 attractions and Circle Centre mall, are all within walking distance of each other.

Thousands visit the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the world’s two largest single-day sporting events: the Indianapolis 500 and the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. In September, motorcycle racing returns to the track for the first time in nearly a century for the Red Bull Indianapolis GP.

Indianapolis has earned recognition as one of the top 25 arts destinations in the country. Indy boasts The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the world’s largest of its kind! The priceless collections at the Indianapolis Museum of Art are only rivaled by its glorious gardens and natural setting on 152 acres. Conner Prairie living history museum brings 19th-century Indiana to life with authentic pioneer programs and events in award-winning historic areas.

Downtown’s White River State Park is home to some of the city’s most popular attractions, including the Indianapolis Zoo, Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, Indiana State Museum and the Central Canal, a restored urban waterway.

Summertime in Indy sizzles. In June, the Indy Jazz Fest promises to turn up the heat with headliner John Legend. In July, African-American culture takes center stage during the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration, the largest and longest-running event of its kind. The great Indiana State Fair in August is a two-week fun-and-food festival. Labor Day weekend features the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park, the most prestigious drag racing event in the world. Visit www.indy.org or call 1-800-519-INDY.
