FALL/WINTER 2007
Indiana is a great place to "restart your engines" with fall foliage and winter fun! Tourists love Indiana for its scenic beauty – and fall is the perfect time to watch the green leaves of summer turn into colorful hues of brown, yellow and red.
The rolling hills of southern Indiana offer breathtaking vistas and inspiring views, from the banks of the Ohio River to the Hoosier National Forest. Brown County is especially popular as visitors come from all over to see the fall colors and to shop in the quaint artisan town of Nashville. The towns of Madison and Vevay along the Ohio River offer historic charm, scenic river views and local shops. Parke County plays host to the annual Covered Bridge Festival which attracts visitors from across the entire Midwest.
Looking for a different way to celebrate the holidays? The Circle of Lights© in downtown Indianapolis is a must-see as 52 garland strands and more than 4,700 lights create the 242-foot display. The Festival of Gingerbread at the History Center in Fort Wayne features more than 100 handcrafted gingerbread houses. The Walkway of Lights at Matter Park and in downtown Marion displays more than 2.5 million lights.
Experience the sights and food of Northern Indiana’s Amish Country, walk among the animals at the Indianapolis Zoo during "Christmas at the Zoo," or visit one of Indiana’s many communities for local festivities during the winter months.
When the snow falls, ski or snowboard at Paoli Peaks in Paoli or Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg. Or visit the town of Santa Claus, Indiana, home of Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, where it’s Christmas every day of the year!
