There is no better time to visit Chicago, the city that Lonely Planet Guidebooks just named the top U.S city. As the home of President Barack Obama and the U.S. candidate city to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Chicago has captured the attention of the world. With its major attractions, more than 45 museums, world-class dining and shopping, and 77 different neighborhoods, Chicago continues to be a premier travel destination for visitors of all ages and interests.

Spend some time on the lakefront at Navy Pier, Chicago's most visited tourist attraction, and home to the Chicago Children's Museum and the Tony Award-winning Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Be sure to visit Grant Park's newly-renovated Buckingham Fountain, one of the largest in the world. Don't miss the award-winning Millennium Park, one of Chicago's most popular attractions, featuring internationally-acclaimed art, music and architecture. Art lovers can also take in the new 264,000-square-foot Modern Wing at the world-renowned Art Institute of Chicago. Farther south, stroll through the Museum Campus, a scenic park that joins the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum of Natural History.

Sports fans will want to head out to Chicago's famed ball parks to watch the Chicago White Sox play at U.S. Cellular Field or experience a bit of history at Wrigley Field, baseball's second-oldest stadium, where the Chicago Cubs play. Other major attractions to add to a Chicago itinerary include the Sears Tower Skydeck, Lincoln Park Zoo and the Green City Market, Chicago's only sustainable organic farmer's market.
